Check Battery or Replace Battery LED is on,Back-UPS Office

Solution

Please do not use the Back-UPS Office on/off switch to power up your computer. Doing so may cause the Check Battery* led to come on, accompanied by a two-tone beep. If this occurs, power off your computer, unplug your computer equipment from the UPS, turn on the UPS, allow it to perform the battery test (On Battery led comes on briefly), then connect and power up your computer equipment. The Check Battery led light should be off.

*Depending on which Back-UPS Office you own, this LED light will either be labeled as "Check Battery" or as "Replace Battery". Regardless of how it is labeled, the functionality and purpose is the same.

If you are NOT using the UPS as a master on/off switch, then perform the following steps:

1. Power off and disconnect all equipment that is attached to your UPS.
2. Turn on the UPS unit to charge it for 8-12 hours (or overnight).
3. After charging, turn the unit off and then back on to make the unit do a self-test. If this clears the LED, then the battery is fine.
4. If it does not clear the led and the unit is in warranty, then contact APC Technical Support at 800-800-4272 (North America only). If you are located outside of North America, please refer to APC's worldwide contact page at : www.apcc.com/support/contact/#worldwide. APC UPSs have a two year warranty from the date of purchase.

If the unit is out of warranty, then you should purchase a Replacement Battery Cartridge (RBC) through your local dealer or reseller. Or you can purchase the replacement batteries directly at APC's Factory Store accessible through APC's web page.
