Available input plug options for 120V Smart-UPS 2200 and Smart-UPS 3000 series

Information

When planning to install a 120V version of the Smart-UPS models 2200 or 3000, care must be taken to ensure that the proper receptacle is available at the installation site, according to the plug that ships with the unit. The SU2200NET, SU2200RM3U and SU2200RMNET ship with a NEMA 5-20P plug rated at 20 Amps Max. The SU3000NET, SU3000RMNET, SU3000RM3U, SU3000RMXL3U, SU2200XLNET and SU2200RMXLNET all ship with a NEMA L5-30P plug (30 Amps max.) If a different plug is needed for compatibility with existing receptacles at the site, then please use the following guidelines to ensure proper UPS VA ratings according to the replacement plug ratings.

The Smart-UPS 2200 and Smart-UPS 3000 series each ship with a standard plug and cannot be ordered with a different plug other than the standard.

Important tip - UL 1778 limits the current rating of a UPS to 80% of the plug's rating. For example, if a UPS has a maximum current draw of 20 amps at full capacity and is using a 20 amp input plug, per UL 1778 the load on the UPS should not exceed 16 amps (80% of 20 amps). Any UPS vendor will need to follow the same guidelines if the vendor intends to carry and abide by UL approval of their products.
